What is the ruling on an employee being late or leaving before the end of official working hours in government or private work?

The worker must adhere to the agreed-upon working hours, as Allah the Almighty says: "O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts," and Muslims are bound by their conditions. Therefore, it is not permissible to be late or to leave without permission or a valid excuse. Otherwise, a portion of his salary equivalent to that dereliction would be unlawful for him.
