If a woman does not fear harm by remaining in the house of her deceased husband, then she must stay there until her ' (waiting period) expires, provided that the husband left behind wealth from which the house rent can be paid. However, if he did not leave wealth, and the heirs did not donate it, then she may move and observe mourning wherever she wishes. She is also permitted to move even if the husband left wealth, if her staying would cause her harm.
