An 'iddah observer must reside and spend nights in the marital home until the 'iddah period ends. However, she is permitted to move to another house if she fears for her safety, her religion, her honor, or her wealth.

An 'iddah observer is allowed to go out during the day to attend to her needs, but she is not permitted to spend the night outside her husband's home, nor to go out at night except out of necessity. She is not allowed to go out for no need, neither by day nor by night.
