Is it permissible for a woman whose husband has died to move to another house in the same city during her iddah period, in order to be close to her sister, knowing that she lives alone with her children and is pregnant?

A woman observing the 'iddah (waiting period) after her husband's death is obligated to remain in the marital home where her husband passed away until her 'iddah concludes, whether the home is owned, rented, or loaned. This is the view of the majority of jurists, who cite the Almighty's saying: "Do not expel them from their homes, nor should they depart," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) statement to Furay'ah: "Remain in your house until the decree reaches its term."

However, she is permitted to move from the house out of necessity, such as fearing for herself or her property due to demolition, drowning, or theft, or if she suffers severe harm from neighbors, or fears for her chastity. If she receives the news of his death while not in her residence, she must return to her residence and observe her 'iddah there. If she was on a ship when her husband died, and she has another residence on land, she should move to it. If she has no home other than the ship and there is a safe place for her there with a mahram, she must observe her 'iddah on it; otherwise, she should move to another location.
