If the impurity of the mobile phone is doubtful, then nothing is required. However, if it is certain, there is a difference of opinion regarding its purification by wiping. The most preponderant view is the permissibility of adopting the opinion of those who rule that it can be purified by wiping, especially if there is a fear of it being damaged by washing. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen holds the view that smooth surfaces which do not absorb impurity can be purified by rubbing, whereas rough surfaces cannot. Therefore, if wiping removes the impurity from the mobile phone, it is sufficient. As for the transfer of impurity from an impure object to a pure, damp or wet object, there is a difference of opinion on this matter. One can adopt the view that impurity does not transfer in such cases, in order to دفعًا للوسوسة (repel whispers of doubt) and رفعًا للحرج (remove hardship).
