Why is there such a strong denunciation of Ash'aris regarding their interpretation of the verses concerning God's attributes, and why do some of us not excuse others in matters of considered theological disputes, especially given that Imam Ahmad interpreted "And your Lord comes" (Qur'an 89:22) as "His reward comes"?

The attribution of the allegorical interpretation (ta'wil) of the "coming" to Imam Ahmad is incorrect. The proof of this is that Al-Ash'ari, in his work "Al-Ibanah," did not mention it; rather, he explicitly stated his adherence to the madhhab (school of thought) of Imam Ahmad, which does not include an allegorical interpretation of the "coming." Furthermore, Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali affirmed in "Fath Al-Bari" that the assertion of interpreting the "coming" as "the command of your Lord came" or "His power comes" is erroneous, and its attribution to Imam Ahmad is a mistake. The narration that attributes this allegorical interpretation to Imam Ahmad is an odd and anomalous narration from Hanbal bin Ishaq, who occasionally presents unique and unconventional positions regarding Imam Ahmad. What is well-preserved regarding Imam Ahmad is the passing of texts according to their apparent meaning without allegorical interpretation.
