What is the ruling of the Shari'ah on a man who insists on growing his beard in adherence to the Sunnah while his wife demands a divorce as a result?

It is forbidden to shave or shorten the beard. A believer is obligated to submit to the command of Allah and His Messenger, as stated in the Holy Quran. Growing a beard is an imitation of the Master of the Children of Adam, peace and blessings be upon him, and the prophets and companions. A wife should accept her husband growing his beard, as there is goodness and success in it, and it is an act of obedience to Allah. Seeking divorce is not permissible except for a valid reason, and the Shari'ah has warned against a woman seeking divorce without just cause. We advise both of you to maintain a good relationship and to make many supplications.
