Is it permissible to convert an old mosque into a funeral hall after building a new mosque in the village, knowing that the new mosque is large, the village is small, and the old mosque will not be used for worship?

Scholars have differed on the permissibility of selling and exchanging an endowment (waqf) if its benefits are no longer served or if there is a benefit in selling it. The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible, but the exchange must be limited to charitable causes and their legitimate activities. Establishing mourning gatherings is not among them.
