What is the ruling on seeking healing through the Quran, what are the legitimate methods for that, and what is the ruling on clinics that offer healing through the Quran?
The Quran is a complete healing for ailments of the heart and body. It is a cure for its people who believe in it and act according to its dictates. Allah Almighty has mentioned that the Quran is a guidance, a healing, and a mercy for the believers. Treatment with the Quran is permissible and lawful. The best methods of treatment with it are for the patient to recite it upon themselves or have someone else recite it upon them, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, used to do. Among the permissible methods also are reciting the Quran into water and drinking it or bathing with it, or writing its verses and dissolving them in water, then drinking that water or bathing with it. As for opening clinics for treatment with the Quran, the original principle is that there is no need for such, because every believer is qualified for that. However, if a person is known for righteousness and their ruqyah (exorcism/incantation) has been tried and found beneficial, then there is no harm in opening a clinic for treatment with the Quran.
