What should a wife devoted to her husband do, one who seeks his pleasure and considers it for the sake of Allah, but feels frustrated because he does not appreciate her, while she sees that other disobedient wives are appreciated by their husbands?
Man was created to be tested, to distinguish the truthful from the liar. This test varies, encompassing wealth and poverty, health and sickness. A righteous husband is a great blessing, and his quick temper can be endured and patiently borne, as Imam Ahmad narrated from Al-Husayn ibn Mihsan that his aunt came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he asked her: "Are you married?" She said: "Yes." He said: "How are you with him?" She said: "I spare no effort with him except for what I am unable to do." He said: "Then look to your position with him, for verily, he is your Paradise and your Hellfire." And in Al-Musnad and Sahih Ibn Hibban, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If a woman prays her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her private parts, and obeys her husband, she will enter Paradise from any of its gates she wishes." He should be advised gently and kindly, reminded of his right to marital relations in a good manner, and of the conduct of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for he was the best of people to his family. It can be suggested that he see a Muslim psychiatrist, as there might be medical reasons or hormonal imbalances. As for women who harm their husbands, they are in clear error, so remind them of the right of Allah and the husband. If they do not respond, then cut off your relationship with them.
