Is expiation due from one who cast the Jamarat of the second day after the middle of the night of the first day, then performed the Farewell Tawaf and departed Makkah?

The pilgrim who throws the pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqaba on the night of the twelfth of Dhul-Hijjah contravenes the Prophetic guidance concerning the rituals of Hajj. The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded that he be followed in the rituals. Part of his guidance (peace be upon him) was staying overnight in Mina and stoning after zawal (midday). Scholars have deduced the obligation of staying overnight in Mina from the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) permission granted to some companions to not stay overnight there. An expiation (fidyah) is due from one who fails to stay overnight in Mina. The Sunnah is for the stoning to occur after zawal, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) did.
