Does the Prophet (peace be upon him) boast of the great number of the Ummah, even if that is at the expense of upbringing and morals? And is it Islamically permissible for one who is able to be just between wives, but is unable to raise children, to marry and have more of them?

What this man is doing—neglecting his children and not caring for their affairs—is an overt evil and a clear sin, as Allah Almighty says: "Allah instructs you concerning your children." They are trusts with the parents, and it is obligatory to attend to their religious and worldly interests, to educate them, discipline them, and restrain them from corruption, as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire." Therefore, upbringing is a shared responsibility between the spouses. The husband must fear Allah concerning his children, for they are his flock over which Allah has made him a guardian. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No servant whom Allah has made a guardian over a flock dies on the day he dies while he has cheated his flock, except that Allah will forbid Paradise for him." There is no harm in having more children or marrying, but he must fulfill the material, educational, and other rights of his wives and children.
