Does divorce occur if the husband says: "If you say to me: 'When will you come again?' I will divorce you with three [declarations]," and the wife then says: "When will you come again?"

Divorce does not occur by mere promise and threat. Thus, no divorce took place when the wife uttered a phrase the husband had forbidden her from saying. He is not obliged to fulfill his promise to divorce; in fact, it is not recommended for him to do so. What is incumbent upon the spouses is to live together amicably and with mutual understanding.
