It is not permissible for a father or guardian to force a mature, sane virgin woman to marry someone she dislikes, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "A woman who has been previously married has more right to herself than her guardian, and a virgin should be asked for her permission, and her silence is her permission." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave a slave girl the choice when her father married her off against her will. This indicates the prohibition of a father forcing his virgin daughter into marriage. However, there is no harm in the guardian advising her and enlightening her about the importance of choosing a righteous husband.
