How can the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to Abu Dharr, regarding the sun prostrating beneath the Throne when it sets, be interpreted, given that modern science proves that the sun's setting is a result of the Earth's rotation on its axis, and that the sun rises in other places while it sets for us?

The words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are true and must be believed. The sunset mentioned in the Hadith (definition) is interpreted as moving away and out of sight, for the sun sets from our view in the direction of the west, but it does not completely disappear from the Earth. The sun runs to its destined resting place, just as the Earth moves and revolves. The Earth's daily rotation causes the alternation of night and day. As for the Hadith, it spoke about the sun's movement and its going to prostrate beneath the Throne. Its going to prostrate beneath the Throne does not mean it disappears from all parts of the Earth, for it may prostrate while continuing in its orbit.
