If specialist doctors determine that the procedure does not ordinarily cause death for this medical condition, then the doctor is not liable for blood money (diyah) or expiation (kaffarah), and similarly if they are in doubt. However, if they confirm that the injection ordinarily leads to death in such cases, then blood money and expiation are obligatory, based on the hadith: "Whoever practices medicine without being known to be skilled in it is liable." It is recommended that dangerous medication or medication given under a doctor's guidance should only be dispensed with an approved medical prescription.
