Does a divorce take place if a husband swears to disown his wife with the intention of divorce when angry, should she betray him, and then she betrays her husband and informs him, and she is now repentant, and he wishes her to be his wife? And what must they do to return to married life?

The wife's betrayal is a grave sin, but the door to repentance is open, and one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. If she repents with sincere repentance, we ask God to accept it from her. As for the husband's conditioning his wife's divorce on her doing something, then by her doing that thing, the divorce occurs according to the majority of jurists, including the four schools of thought, and this is the most preponderant opinion. The same applies according to Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah if the husband intended divorce. If the husband wishes to reconcile with his wife, he may do so as long as this divorce does not complete three divorces. The reconciliation is valid by word or by action.
