Does divorce occur to the wife if the husband swears by divorce to do a certain thing, and he is a liar and does not do this thing?

Whoever swears an oath of divorce falsely has committed a sin and must repent. According to the majority of scholars, divorce takes effect, and he may take his wife back before her ' (waiting period) expires, unless this divorce completes the three divorces. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah dissented, holding that neither divorce nor an expiatory oath (kaffarat ) is required, but only repentance. The preponderant view is that of the majority of scholars.
