Does divorce occur if the wife lies or swears falsely, given that the husband has sworn to divorce due to her repeated lying and she promised to be truthful and swore by Allah?

If a wife tells her husband that she will swear falsely by Allah, and likens her oath to divorce, then her falsehood does not result in divorce, and her comparison is not given any consideration. However, she has committed a great sin, which is the "false oath" (al-yamin al-ghamūs), considered one of the major sins. There is no expiation for it according to the majority of scholars, though expiation is obligatory for it according to the Shāfiʿīs and one narration from the Ḥanbalīs. Swearing by divorce is forbidden by Islamic law; it is one of the oaths of the dissolute. Some scholars have deemed it forbidden, while others consider it disliked.
