What is the ruling on a woman traveling abroad for work, and what should she do to please Allah if she has already traveled?
A Muslim is not permitted to travel to non-Muslim countries due to the dangers this poses to one's faith and morals. This prohibition is even more emphatic for women, especially unmarried women, due to the fear of corruption. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am free of any Muslim who resides among idolaters; their fires should not be visible to each other."
As for traveling to a Muslim country, it is permissible with the presence of a mahram and the availability of legitimate Islamic conditions for work. Otherwise, it is not permissible, based on the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "It is not lawful for a woman to travel for three (days) except with a mahram." Whoever transgresses this must offer sincere repentance.
