What is the ruling on threatening to kill someone for ending an illicit relationship? Is self-defense permissible in this situation, knowing that there are residency difficulties preventing recourse to the police?

Adultery is absolutely forbidden, even if the two individuals involved intend to marry each other afterwards. Whoever permits it for those who intend to marry commits major disbelief. Allah created us to worship Him and commanded us to be steadfast in His religion and to obey His law. Righteousness towards parents does not exempt one from performing obligations and avoiding forbidden acts. Every servant will be questioned about their sin on the Day of Resurrection. It was previously explained that whoever threatens to kill for committing indecency is too cowardly to carry out his threat, and measures were mentioned to avoid his evil, such as changing phone numbers, avoiding meeting those he meets, and changing jobs. Death is more honorable than voluntarily surrendering one's honor. It is advised to emigrate from the lands of the disbelievers for those who cannot openly practice their religion and fear falling into forbidden acts.
