Does the Sharia permit the wife's mother to travel to her during the 'iddah period on the pretext of accompanying her during childbirth, or is there another solution?

The general rule is that a woman in iddah (waiting period) after her husband's death is forbidden from traveling and from spending the night outside the home where her husband died. This is based on the hadith of Furay'ah bint Malik, where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded her to stay in her home.

No exceptions are made to this rule except in cases of extreme necessity, which scholars have defined as a person reaching a point where if they do not partake of the forbidden thing, they will perish or be close to perishing. This does not apply to a mourning mother traveling to witness her daughter's birth.

The solution in such a case is for the daughter to travel to her mother, if possible, or for the mother to appoint someone to care for the daughter on her behalf.
