Is it permissible for a woman whose husband has died to travel to her family's country to observe her 'iddah?

It is impermissible for a woman observing the 'iddah (waiting period) after her husband's death to travel during this period, whether for Hajj or for any other purpose, according to the majority of scholars. However, if she fears for herself or her property, she is permitted to move to another safe dwelling, provided it does not involve travel.
