What should be done with an apostate son who rejects Islam and disbelieves in God, and is donating non-halal sweets to a food shelter considered a sin?

Sweets are not forbidden unless there is a strong presumption that they contain impure and unlawful substances that have not changed during processing. If they have changed and transformed, they become pure, and it is permissible to eat them and donate them. However, if the impure substances remain as they are, it is not permissible to consume them or give them to the needy, even if they are disbelievers, because disbelievers are addressed by the ancillary rulings of Sharia (definition), and giving them unlawful things is aiding them in sin.

To save the son from misguidance, one must first identify the cause of his deviation (misconceptions, family pressure, bad company). The family should engage in calm discussions with him, replace his bad company with righteous one, take him to Islamic centers, and perhaps move to an Islamic environment and exchange visits with Muslim families. The parents must also embrace their son with affection and friendship to understand his thoughts. Guidance is in the hands of Allah, so one must supplicate for him abundantly and consult trusted educators.
