Is it permissible to divorce the wife who has been proven to have communicated with another person before and after marriage, or is it sufficient to keep her while marrying another and providing for the children, and is it permissible to discipline the young man with whom the wife communicated?

If the wife sincerely repents from establishing an illicit relationship with a young man, then it is preferable to keep her and not divorce her. However, if she persists in her state, then divorcing her is preferable. It is not permissible for the husband to punish the young man who committed the indecency by killing him, cutting his tongue, or beating him, for punishment is the prerogative of the legitimate ruler. The husband must fulfill his responsibilities and manage the affairs of his household in obedience to Allah, close the doors to discord, and prevent his wife from boycotting her family.
