What is the ruling on some people wiping themselves against the Kaaba's wall and its covering, and against Maqam Ibrahim during tawaf?

Every act intended to draw closer to Allah and to worship Him, yet having no basis in Islamic law, is an innovation (bid‘ah); such as wiping the corners of the Kaaba other than the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, or wiping oneself with Maqam Ibrahim, or with Zamzam, or the pillars of the portico, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not do that.
