What is the ruling on listening to a mother's complaints that involve slandering the father, and is not listening considered an act of disobedience (uquq)? And is a person held accountable for feelings of aversion towards their parents?

If the father has wronged the mother and engaged in sinful relationships, this does not justify the mother instigating her children against him; because children are obligated to be dutiful and good to their parents, even if they have done wrong or are disbelievers. For Allah Almighty has commanded good companionship with parents. Negative feelings towards bad parental behavior are not blameworthy, as long as they do not lead to disobedience. Listening to the mother is an act of filial piety, but if her words incur Allah’s wrath, such as her inciting against the father, then one must not listen to her in that regard, while gently placating her. If the mother accuses her children of neglect, she may have an excuse, and the children must listen to her and soothe her feelings. One is not necessarily requited in kind for their shortcomings towards their parents, but the fear of that motivates one to be dutiful and to beware of disobedience.
