Is it permissible to bury a Muslim in the graveyards of polytheists?
It is not permissible to bury a Muslim in the graveyards of polytheists, nor vice versa, except in cases of extreme necessity, such as the absence of any other place and the fear of the body decomposing. The proof for this is the practice of Muslims since the era of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Ibn Hazm said, "Because the practice of the people of Islam since the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is that a Muslim should not be buried with a polytheist." This is also indicated by the Prophet's differentiation between the graves of Muslims and polytheists in the hadith of Bashir ibn al-Khasasiyah.
