Is it permissible to give the fidyah for fasting and zakat al-fitr in cash and send it to a needy family in Syria? How is the amount of money calculated? And is it permissible to send it from the husband's money?

If a pregnant woman breaks her fast out of fear for herself and her child, she only has to make up the missed days (qada'). If she fears only for her child, then she must make up the missed days and pay a fidyah (definition) according to the majority of scholars. The fidyah is to feed one poor person for each day, and its measure is one mudd of food (approximately 750 grams of rice). It is permissible to send the fidyah and Zakat (definition) al-Fitr to a poor family in Syria or to a group of families. It is preferable to transfer money and appoint someone to buy food for them, as a way of avoiding scholarly differences. Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for the husband to pay on behalf of his wife. Scholars differ on whom the fidyah is obligatory for when breaking the fast out of fear for the fetus: is it on the wife from her own money, or on the guardian of the fetus? However, there is no harm in sending it from the husband's money with his permission.
