The answer

We have previously clarified that all types of commercial insurance are prohibited due to the presence of Maysir (gambling) and Qimar (speculative gambling) within them. Saving money in these companies is impermissible, even if you retrieve the same amount or less, because what is obligatory is to denounce these companies, and the least one can do is to boycott them and cease dealing with them. However, if you were to take more than you paid, this is explicit usury (riba). Allah Almighty said: (O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of riba, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger.) The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses, and he said: "They are all equal." And a dirham of riba that a man consumes knowingly is worse than thirty-six acts of fornication.
