Is ordinary charity like donating to Palestine at a time like this?

If a Muslim wishes to give voluntary charity, they should prioritize those most in need. The relatives are the most deserving in this regard, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Begin with those whom you support: your mother, your father, your sister, and your brother, then those closest to you, then those next closest." And in his saying to Abu Talhah: "And I am of the opinion that you should make it among your nearest relatives."

However, if a Muslim finds people who are in greater need than their relatives, such as the people of Palestine, then it is preferable to give charity to them through reliable channels. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did this with a group from Mudar who were in dire straits, preferring them over the poor of Medina.
