"Shame (Hayā') before Allah, as it truly should be, is what was mentioned in the Hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, narrated from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. It means: to guard the head and what it comprehends (i.e., from using it in disobedience to Allah and from what it gathers through the tongue, eye, and ear that is impermissible to use), and the belly and what it contains (i.e., from consuming the unlawful and what is connected to it, such as the private parts, legs, hands, and heart, by not using them in acts of disobedience), and to remember death and decay. And that whoever desires the Hereafter leaves the adornment of this world. So, whoever does that has truly shown shame before Allah as it should be."
