Am I bound to fulfill the condition set by my wife's father that I not travel with her outside the country, knowing that the security situation has changed and my life is now threatened, and that my wife did not agree to the condition from the outset? And does this condition become void due to compelling circumstances? And would my wife or I be sinful for not fulfilling it?

Conditions in the marriage contract that do not contradict Islamic law or the essence of the contract are obligatory to fulfill, such as a woman stipulating that her husband not take her out of her country. This is supported by evidence, such as Allah’s saying: (O YOU WHO HAVE BELIEVED, FULFILL [ALL] CONTRACTS), and the hadith: (THE MOST DESERVING OF CONDITIONS TO BE FULFILLED IS THAT BY WHICH YOU MADE INTERCOURSE LAWFUL). Indeed, Muslims are bound by their conditions. As for the father stipulating for himself a portion of the dower, it is not permissible for him to do so. Everything the father stipulates for himself becomes the right of the wife, and the woman has the right to waive these conditions if she agrees to do so. Therefore, the wife's agreement to travel nullifies the condition of not traveling with her.
