Is it permissible to sell something to one who is known to use it for idolatry, such as idols, and is it permissible to take the price for it?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to sell items that he knows the buyer will use in associating partners with Allah (shirk) or in disobedience (ma'siyah); due to the generality of Allah's saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, if Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price."
