Will Allah compensate the husband for abandoning the endeavor to sell a forbidden Pharaonic statue, knowing that they are in need of money to pay off debts?

You and your husband did well by abstaining from mediating the sale of the idol, because selling idols is forbidden. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of alcoholic beverages, dead animals, swine, and idols." There is no credible statement from any scholar that permits the sale of idols. Therefore, selling them or assisting in their sale is forbidden. And whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, Allah will reward him for it in this world or the Hereafter, or in both, as Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, Allah is Appreciative and Knowing." Al-Sa'di said: "Part of His appreciation for His servant is that whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah, He replaces it with something better for him." Similarly, Ahmad narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, you will not abandon anything for the sake of Allah, the Exalted and Mighty, except that Allah will replace it with something better for you than it."
