Is a divorce issued by the husband valid if he was in a state of extreme anger, and after his wife assaulted him, and she later claimed not to remember the incident, given the presence of jinn possession?

We have previously explained that the husband's statement to his wife: "Consider yourself divorced" is one of the ambiguous divorce pronouncements (kinayat al-talaq), and divorce does not occur by it unless the husband intends it. As for the divorce pronounced by someone afflicted with possession (mass) or sorcery (sihr), it has specific details. There is no expiation (kaffarah) regardless of whether the divorce occurs or not, and one should be careful not to utter words of divorce. If the spouses are predominantly affected by possession or sorcery, they should diligently seek ruqyah (Islamic exorcism/healing).
