Does an employee's request for gold from his colleagues or employers, when traveling for vacation, study, marriage, or visiting family, fall under the noble Hadith: "A servant does not open a door of begging except that Allah opens for him a door of poverty"?

The fundamental principle is that asking people for money is blameworthy. However, if it is a common custom among workers to assist someone who intends to marry or take a leave, then there is no harm in this assistance, which is known as "an-nuqoot" (a monetary gift given on special occasions). Some jurists consider it akin to an implicit loan, while others — and this is the more preponderant view — hold that it is not repayable unless its form explicitly stipulates it as a loan.
