Is an 'aqiqah for a female child sufficient if the father intended it, while the proxy named a male child at the time of slaughtering?

The Aqiqah is an act of closeness to Allah and an act of worship that requires intention. The validity of the intention lies with the person for whom the Aqiqah is being performed, not with the agent, due to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Actions are but by intentions, and every person will have what he intended." Therefore, you will have what you intended by designating the Aqiqah for the female child. What is considered in the slaughter of the sacrificial animal — whose ruling is like that of the Aqiqah — is the intention of the principal.
