Has God cursed a people if a woman rules them?
The scholars have agreed on the impermissibility of women holding positions of authority, with the exception of what the Hanafis permitted regarding her holding judicial office in matters specific to women. This is because the original place for a woman is her home, to raise children, and due to Allah's saying: "And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of [the times of] ignorance." (Quran 33:33). The evidence for prohibition is what Al-Bukhari narrated from Abu Bakra (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A people will not succeed who appoint a woman to govern them." As for the curse on those who appoint a woman to govern them, it has not been mentioned in the books of Hadith nor by the scholars. Rather, what is mentioned is the lack of success.
