What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "Do not entrust your affairs to a woman," and does it prohibit women from holding leadership positions?

Al-Bukhari and Ahmad narrated from Abu Bakra that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A people who entrust their affairs to a woman will never prosper." This was when he was informed that the people of Persia had crowned the daughter of Khosrau as their ruler.
