What is the ruling on saying: "The eye of Allah is vigilant, it does not sleep"?

The attributes of Allah Almighty are tawqifiyyah (restricted to what is revealed), so He is only described by what He has described Himself with in the Qur'an or on the tongue of His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. The Salaf (pious predecessors) agreed upon this principle, based on the saying of Abdur-Rahman ibn al-Qasim: "It is not befitting for anyone to describe Allah except with what He has described Himself," and the saying of Al-Barbahari: "One should not speak about the Lord except with what He has described Himself with in the Qur'an, and what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified to his companions." The description of Allah Almighty or His eye with "sleeplessness" has not been mentioned in any book or Sunnah; therefore, the eye of Allah Almighty should not be described with it.
