Is marriage without a guardian permissible according to the school of Abu Hanifa, and is the guardian's knowledge of it a condition, or not? And how are the offer and acceptance exchanged between the spouses? And are specific conditions required for the witnesses in terms of their knowledge of the spouses?

The Hanafis consider the marriage of a mature woman valid without a guardian, and it is contracted by her proposal (ijab) and the husband's acceptance (qabul). However, it is preferable for her to delegate her guardian so that she is not attributed with impudence. It is not a condition for the two witnesses of the marriage to know the spouses before the contract; rather, it is sufficient to identify them by mentioning their name, father's name, and grandfather's name. Otherwise, the marriage is not permissible if she is absent. As for a present woman who is veiled and unknown to the witnesses, it is sufficient to point to her, or for her to uncover her face, or to mention her name, her father's name, and her grandfather's name. The preponderant opinion is that of the majority of scholars.
