How can one differentiate between the whispers of Satan that are a punishment from God for those who turn away from His remembrance, and the whispers of Satan that come from Satan himself without divine intervention, taking into account the words of our master Job (peace be upon him): "Indeed, Satan has afflicted me with hardship and torment"?

The harm caused by Satan is divided into two types: harm to one's religion and harm to one's worldly life. The first type is his dominion over a servant, leading them astray and hindering them from the path of Allah. This type only affects those who ally themselves with him and associate partners with Allah. The second type of harm does not extend beyond worldly limits, such as illnesses and various afflictions that befall a person in their body, family, or wealth. This type affects believers and non-believers alike, even prophets.

While the dominion of Satan causing harm to a servant's religion is warded off from a person according to their faith and righteous deeds, his dominion over the body may afflict even prophets and those lesser than them. No human being is free from whispers (waswas), and the difference between people lies in their acceptance of them and being affected by them, or their aversion to them and rejection of them. This is by the decree of Allah, the Almighty.
