What is the ruling on one who knows some evidences from the Qur’an and sound Sunnah and acts upon them in his life, even though he is not among the people of fatwa?
It is not a prerequisite for a Muslim to be among the people of fatwa (religious edict) to act upon the Quran and Sunnah. He may act upon what is known from the religion by necessity, or what is famously established in the Quran and Sunnah, or what he knows from his studies and memorization. Likewise, he may act upon what he asks the people of knowledge about and learns its ruling from them. Acting upon a fatwa is necessary in matters whose ruling a Muslim is ignorant of and needs to ask the people of knowledge about.
