The mother's right over her children is great, and all children—males and females—must care for her, serve her, visit her, and keep her company to the best of their ability. As for the wife's service to her husband's mother, it is not obligatory for her; rather, it is a favor and kindness. One must combine filial piety towards the mother with good companionship towards the wife, using wisdom and tact. As for the sisters' right over their brother and his right over them, it is maintaining kinship ties, which is achieved by everything considered in custom to be a connection, such as financial assistance, fulfilling needs, visiting, and corresponding.
