A rebellious wife is not entitled to maintenance. If she is divorced and persists in her rebellion, she is also not entitled to maintenance during her 'iddah (waiting period) unless she is pregnant. If the rebellious wife returns to her husband's obedience, she is entitled to maintenance, and she deserves it even if its payment is delayed. Any man who has divorced his wife with a revocable divorce may take her back, even if she does not agree. It is recommended to take the wife back if there is a predominant benefit, such as the presence of children or hope for the wife's righteousness. Otherwise, divorce is more appropriate if there is no hoped-for benefit and she insists on her rebellion.
