The answer

The change in a person's condition from wealth to poverty or vice versa is due to two aspects:

First: Allah is the Creator, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, so He is not questioned about what He does.

Second: There are great wisdoms behind this change, including:

1. The testing and trial of the servant in their patience and gratitude, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer, for there is good in every matter of his."

2. The servant's heart remaining attached to Allah, realizing that their sustenance comes from Him.

3. The afflicted, the poor, and the sick not despairing, knowing Allah's ability to change conditions.

4. This change is part of the trials upon which worldly life is built, in preparation for the Abode of Recompense.

5. It serves as a reminder for the heedless and an admonition for the disobedient to return to Allah and repent.

There are other wisdoms known only to the Creator. As Ibn al-Qayyim said: "If all people were of one form of beauty, the value of beauty would not be known."
