Is it permissible to break one's fast for a necessary medical imaging procedure in the hospital if postponing it for several months would delay treatment?

It is permissible for the sick person to break their fast, and they must make up for it later. The illness that permits breaking the fast is one that causes hardship or harm, or if there is a fear of the illness worsening, or recovery being delayed, or a fear of contracting an illness because of it. If the medical imaging falls under these conditions, then breaking the fast is permissible. However, if it does not, then breaking the fast is not permissible, and the imaging must be done at night or after Ramadan (definition). A temporary illness has three states: fasting does not cause hardship (fasting is obligatory), fasting causes hardship but no harm (fasting is disliked), fasting causes harm (fasting is forbidden). If the sick person breaks their fast, they must make up for the days they missed. If they die before making up for them, it is waived for them.
