Is it permissible for a father to treat his children with injustice and capriciousness in their rights, and to take revenge on some of them by empowering others over them?

Justice is one of the virtues of believers, and those who uphold it will be in the highest ranks on the Day of Resurrection. Islamic law has commanded justice among children and forbidden favoritism between them. If a father does not deal justly with his children without an acceptable justification, he is a wrongdoer. The children should advise him gently and warn him of the consequences of his actions. It is incumbent upon the children whom their father favors with a gift to return it, in order to protect their father from injustice and preserve affection among their siblings. The injustice of a father does not negate his right to dutifulness, nor does it permit boycotting him or treating him poorly. Regardless of his bad character or distance from religion, a child must treat him well.
