If one buys a defective item, he has the right to return the merchandise and get a refund, or to take the difference in price. Commercial insurance is forbidden (). If one is forced to partake in it, he is only entitled to receive back the premiums he paid from the insurance amount. It is not permissible to lie and claim the car was stolen to take what is not rightfully one's own, and a Muslim does not cheat or steal.
